ARI - Don’t is out NOW on Help Yourself / La Tebwa.
Don’t even think skipping this press release.
(We’re really sorry, but we’re doing this for your own good - don’t ask. And don’t forget to press play now.)
You don’t know who Ari is. And we won’t tell you, because we don’t like doing things like the others.
So you will know more about his last EP in the following lines.
This EP’s eponymous title-track, Don’t, is a wonderful musical mapping of how the daedalus of human denial works: joining an army of synthesizers and electronic drums which don’t make you think about DJ Sneak making glitch music, a synthetic female voice repeatedly tells you NOT to do things.
The result being that you will feel like DOING it every time: think about it as a techno disallowance-driven Pavlovian test at 133 bpm. (You tell me NOT to do something? Fuck you, I’ll do it instead.)
The second track, Bug, with its slower, ketamine-fueled Boys Noize FATAL ERROR – GURU MEDITATION groove and its broken-down mellotron strings might as well be the national anthem of a post-fallout nation.
Warning: don’t get lost in Supernova’s warm synthetic brasses, in its dreamy, Richard David James-ish spaced-out vibes. Don’t fist-pump all alone in your room listening to the TVL version of Don’t, a hyper-heavy, 4X4 technoid behemoth.
And don’t listen to french dancefloor myth Lifelike and upcoming sensation IOWA’s remixes: the first being an unstoppable 90s techno revisitation of the title track, the second being the grooviest way to remember what you DON’T do in a club…
…and then do it, because you tell me not to do something? I’ll totally do it instead.
So – have a nice listen and…here’s the most important warning we’re going to give you today:
don’t ever follow advices from a music press release.
